NAPD-Nepal
NAPD-Nepal is a non-governmental, non-profit making and non- political, self-motive organization. It was registered at the District Administration Office Kathmandu in 1997 under the Country Act as well as affiliated with Social Welfare Council. It is a member organization of National Federation of the Disabled-Nepal (NFD-N), Women Security Pressure Group (WSPG) and Human Rights Treaty Monitoring Coordination Committee (HRTMCC). NAPD-Nepal stands for the comprehensive development of physical disabled of Nepal through mobilizing existing resources and opportunities in optimum level.
NAPD-Nepal has been effectively carrying out several activities for the development of PwPDs since a decade. It has been proactively working in various “developmental sectors to ensure and promote the rights PwPDs. The major activities, it has been doing, are awareness raising, advocacy, lobby, networking, providing skill based trainings, capacity. buildings, research and study to explore the disabilities issues, leadership development. Moreover, it has also been working as a member network organization of “We Can” movement of Oxfam International in Nepal to end all sorts of violence against women.
Vision
A country where people with physical disabilities live in an inclusive, barrier free environment with access to human rights, rehabilitation and an independent and respected life.
Mission
NAPD-Nepal exists to listen to people with physical disabilities, to support them in solving their problems, to advocate and lobby for their human rights, to remove physical barriers that stop them accessing education, employment and health facilities and to increase awareness of the causes of physical disability.
Objectives
- To identify the problems and needs of People with Physical Disabilities (PwPDs) through different means and work accordingly to resolve it.
- To broaden social awareness of PWDs issues strongly and effectively to ensure equal human rights and duties are met.
- To explore appropriate programs to create proper opportunities for the PwPDs,
- To advocate the UNCRPD-2006 in favor of PwPDs to the concerns agencies and increase the inclusion of PwPDs into mainstream society.
- To enhance the capacity building mechanism for activists and NAPD-Nepal employees in the process of organizational development.
- To rehabilitate and strengthen the economic status of PwPDs through several types of income generating programs.
- To improve the access of education for all PwPDs.
- In order to work against the challenges of PwPDs issues, execute programs cooperatively and collaboratively.
